Young companies are suffering from lack of good engineers
Good engineers bore in big companies held by a good pay
I am hearing more and more complains that companies can't find good software engineers. It prevents from growing their business and many startups never can stand of their feet. So why is the problem. Where are all good engineers? Economy is slow, so we should expect tons of good engineers available. However it doesn't happen. Why? An answer is simple. Big companies like Google could absorb most of good engineers offering them a good pay. However they can't offer them any exciting work. So engineers simple bore. To make their life a bit more interesting, Google tell them to work on own projects. However it isn't for everyone. So many good engineers never can expose their talents and just waste their lives for a good pay. So big companies secure themselves from competition just eliminating good engineers. It isn't a new practice though. Long time ago Microsoft just killed Borland offering all Borland's key engineers millions sign in bonuses. Interesting thing that big companies suffering from this approach too. Good engineers without any exciting work just lose qualification and can't do any work. So big companies continue to hire different consulting firms to keep their business alive. However staff of consulting firm is far not perfect, so as result big companies having the best engineers can't deliver any good quality products. Every one can observe the situation now. I hope things will start changing soon as only big companies will start losing revenues, they can start lay off of good engineers, some of them can be still capable to work and we can expect growing of economy.
