Light weight web application tech stack
Platforms war becomes harder
Platforms are very popular now. Every big vendor is trying to create own platform and tie users to it. A race of making a platform comprehensive and powerful issues heaviness for it. There is no good modular approach to extract only required platform components for any particular purpose. I noticed that Sun has converted Glassfish in a web platform as well. However Sun couldn’t escape the same problem of providing light weight modular platform for different size and purpose web application. From this view Aldan3 becomes even more competitive.
Few notes about Zune
I am always curious why certain thing can be successful and why other not. For example. Why IPod is popular and Zune not. Why Wiiis still hard to find and XBOX is heavily discounted and still nobody buys it. What is secret of success? Surprisingly, here are few simple rules which could make your product popular. One rule is to do not attach consumer too much to original vendor, people like freedom everywhere. Get for example Zune, it looks like a good device with some interesting features, however it can’t compete with iPod. Only two simple changes could make Zune the same popular:
1. USB drive interface
2. Video Mpeg4 support
