Recently I was hunting to find a good inexpensive hosting solution for my Java web application, and was really scammed with so named hosting offering companies. First rule, never trust to first links bringing you to any search engine.
I ignore that rule and tried http://www.mochahost.com/. I was hoped that San Jose company is honest and good, but I was wrong. First, their hosting conditions look very attractive and very low priced, private Tomcat with 1Gb memory for $4.75, wow? Nope. When you try to get something for this price, you will get Tomcat hosting only applications from a predefined set. So if you want to host your application, then it will cost you minimally $28 a month. These guys are not only liars, they are scammers. The site clear state 100% money back guarantee. Not at all, they will return you by $11 less without any explanation. Scammers, scammers and liars.
Okay, so I decided to try another host solution not first in the list but close to top. http://www.visionwebhosting.net/ Never deal with the company, it is operated from India, and with all my respect to Indian, they guys are thieves. When they obtained your credit card information, they will start charging it without your authorization, so even do not try. Regarding services, you can host only one web application, and support is awful, since all your requests will be processed in India, so you have always one day delay even for a simple problem to resolve.
So where to host your application?
